Welcome to 2018! 🎉🤸🏻♂️🎂🍾💃🏻✨ I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly excited to be here. Today I’m sharing something really special and personal, my vision board for this year! These are things that I am aspiring for, maybe not all of these are realistic this year but they are lifelong goals that I hope to at least make a dent into this year. Whether it be simply growing my connection to start meeting a particular goal or absolutely knocking it out of the park, this is what I have on my vision board for 2018!
A little bit about what exactly a vision board is. By definition, it’s a board in which you display images that represent whatever you want to be or accomplish in your life. Because we are busy bodies basically 24/7, it can be a good idea to have something visual to look at every day to keep you inspired and pushing for your goals. For me, this is something that I will look at everyday to remind me why I’m working so hard, why I’m putting myself waaaaay outside of my comfort zone. I placed my vision board in my breakfast nook because it’s in my sight line from my most common work space and it’s the room that inspires me the most. I want to be able to see it while I’m working. I’m a very visual person, so having something to look at is important for me.
I won’t go into detail for each and every image I have placed, but I’d love to talk about a few of the big ones.
My Vision Board (for your inspiration!)
This photo represents the style aesthetic I want to accomplish in 2018, and that’s a totally attainable goal! I’m still learning about photography and my camera, and most importantly, editing photos. I want to create a cohesive theme for my photos that represent me and my style. But, like anyone else, we draw from inspiration! My inspiration for both fashion style and photography style is Show Me Your Mumu! They’re my dream brand 😍 I hope that one day I will be able to work with them, but for now, I’ll just pretend I’m a Mumu girl. It’s important to note that I want to create my own style and photo branding, but they’re the brand style that I relate to the most.
Life quotes to really kick some ass.
I think we can all relate to quotes in some form or fashion. For me, I’m all about positivity and creating an environment that is welcome and inclusive. While I’m the typical introvert (I prefer small groups, I’d rather listen and observe the room than engage in small talk, I’m a notorious homebody, etc.etc.etc.), I do love meeting new people and creating genuine relationships. My favorite quotes for 2018 that I will be living by are: “Do Epic Shit”; “Choose to Be Optimistic, It Feels Better”; “Yes Girl”; “God’s Timing is Perfect”; “Channel Your Inner Beyonce”; “Work Until You No Longer Have to Introduce Yourself”. I think these are so fun and clearly state my mission and goals for my blog and every day life!
One quote that I’d like to talk more in-depth about is “Supporting another’s success won’t ever dampen yours.” This is so important to me, especially in this industry. I feel lucky that I’ve met more supportive bloggers and influencers that want to help others succeed with them, than the opposite. And that’s exactly the type of person that I am. I want to see you succeed, and I want to help if I can! I love supporting other’s dreams, whether it be similar to mine or not. There’s room for everyone, friends.
Income, fashion week, and everything in between.
These are the goals I mentioned in the beginning that I know aren’t exactly realistic for this year, but I’m going to take all the steps necessary to pave my way.
Making an income that will supplement our lifestyle and help me blog full-time would be a dream and that’s certainly the goal long-term.
Attending fashion week (and it actually being beneficial to my career) is a huge life goal for me! I want to be invited by brands that I have established relationships with, and that’s always going to be a goal for me. A dream, really. I studied fashion in college and it’s just something that I’m very passionate about. I’m not just talking about shopping and buying clothes; the whole industry is fascinating to me. It’s totally out of my comfort zone but I’m so attracted to the fast-paced lifestyle, the long hours of hard but absolute 100% passion work that goes into each and every detail of a brand. I love it all.
Working with brands that I love and hopefully being introduced to more awesome companies is the goal for this year. Even if it’s one sponsored opportunity, it’s a step in the right direction.
Why you need a vision board.
Vision boards are important because they reinforce the affirmations you set for yourself. It helps you stay focused so that you can attract the life you want. I’m not saying that simply creating a vision board is going to rake in $10,000 this month for me out of the blue. It still requires a lot of hard work, motivation on the days you feel weak, and staying dedicated to your dream. You have to believe that you can do it, and put in the work to make it a reality.
How to create your vision board. It’s so easy, I promise!
There are a few different ways you can create your own vision board. The most obvious way is to create a physical, tangible board with photos, quotes, whatever your goal and place it somewhere special to you. A second way is to create your vision board digitally via Pinterest (here’s my vision board on Pinterest!). A third way is to think about, pray, and/or meditate on what it is that you wish to accomplish. It can truly be whatever you want it to be. I think on some level we all already have vision boards in our minds. The next part of the equation is to make sure you’re doing everything you can to accomplish those goals, and speaking positivity into your life. What you think, you will attract.
