Welcome back! I’m so glad you’re here ☺️
I’ve declared 2018 to be the year of positivity, and I’m sticking to it! While life may never be “perfect”, we have to make our lives as happy as possible. The best way we can do that is to proactively seek happiness and positivity!
5 Things I’m Happy About
Everyone has someone. And my people are awesome.
This year I’m really focusing on those who WANT to be in my life, and I’m putting that energy into my friendships, too. This year will be about cultivating those friendships!
Take a look at your life and who is in it. Who makes time for you? What friend reaches out with a text or phone call? Who invests in your life? Return that energy to those people, because they want to be in your life and you want them in yours. “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”- Jim Rohn.
A healthy body.
If you’re new around here, my health has been on a wild rollercoaster. Like, Mr. Freeze rollercoaster. Extremely unstable and oftentimes terrifying. I have an autoimmune disease called Ulcerative Colitis and it’s as awful as it sounds. You can read more about it here.
With that being said, I’ve worked really hard to keep my body healthy, despite my disease. I stay active with my dogs, at the gym, and try to get my body moving every day. My husband is a huge influence on my fitness routine because he’s also very active in the gym. While I may struggle everyday with energy and the overall “blah” feeling that comes with an autoimmune disease, I’m thankful for the health that I do have and I don’t take it for granted.
Some days it’s a struggle to even get out of bed, but those are the days I’m most thankful because I have a blessed life that allows me to take the rest when I need it.
If there’s one thing I regret, it’s not believing in myself. I hate that I’ve had to go through so many trials in my life to realize that I am strong, capable and SMART!
I’ve always struggled with body-image and self-confidence, and I can’t say that I’m totally out of the woods. But, I can say that I’ve grown to love and appreciate who I am, what I look like, my strengths (and weaknesses) and how damn strong I am.
Living with a chronic illness, many trips to the hospital and ER, miscarrying my first (and only) pregnancy, losing my job… most of these things happening in 2017 has really shown me that I can handle anything and make it through (with God’s grace!). I’ve grown stronger in my faith through all of it. I’ve found my passion and a creative outlet that is proving to be successful and fulfilling. I encourage you to drop the negative self-talk because who has time for that? It’s 2018 babe, it’s time to believe in yourself.
If you don’t know what that means, it stands for girl power. And I’m stoked on it. Since joining this blogging community, I have met so many incredible women. Empowering women, successful women, inspirational women, NICE women. I’m loving this strong movement we are having focused around empowering women and encouraging each other. Community over competition, always.
This goes hand-in-hand with my self-confidence and girl power because a lot of the reason I’m so inspired lately is because my self-worth has greatly improved and I’m surrounded by a lot of positive women. I’m a creative person by nature and feel like it’s expressed throughout my being. Whether it’s in my work or my style, I take pride in my creativity. Starting this blog has really helped channel my creativity and help me get back to my authentic self, and it has me feeling more inspired than ever.
It’s a great feeling to wake up each day ready to create something you’re proud of, and work towards a greater goal. Inspiration and success are cyclical, in that when one is working well so is the other. Create a vision board, find your tribe, and seek out a mentor that will inspire you to work hard every damn day!
It’s so important to seek positivity, even in the toughest of times. Whatever your struggles are right now, I encourage you to write down a few things or say it out loud, what you’re happy or thankful for. Say a quick prayer or meditate on those things, and try to push past this struggle!
Let’s make 2018 the year of positivity!
